What to Use Plastic Sheeting For

There are many manufacturers, suppliers, and imports that use plastic sheeting. Plastic sheeting is basically polyethylene films that are utilized for general purposes, but specifically in construction, agriculture, and also protecting paints. It usually goes under the name Visqueen too, and it’s something that, through the use of polymerization, has helped with a lot of fields. This isn’t going to be previous, and actually proves water, rot, and also chemicals too, which is why people in construction love it. But what can you use for this? Here, we’ll go over a few of the many applications.

Tarps, Ground Sheeting and Covering Sheets

If you have different construction projects, you can use this as a way to cover the project when you’re done from the elements. This is great too for covering stuff that doesn’t’ need to get wet, such as painting projects, or even firewood during the rainy seasons.

It’s great for all protection for these elements.  It also serves as a temporary tarp in the event you’re in an emergency and you need to cover yourself.  It’s also wonderful for containers too, because if you have containers that don’t need to get wet, such as boxes and the life, this is a great way to use it.

Aquaponics

This is a type of gardening system that uses water, and while the plants are given nutrients from the solution, you don’t want that getting everywhere.  It also can be used to house fish and the like. Using this type of sheeting allows you to protect your basins from any source of rot, and from cause prevention for the water escaping, and so it doesn’t spill everywhere when you’re trying to handle something.

Collecting Rain

The cool thing about plastic sheeting is that you can actually use this to catch rain.  While rain barrels and the like are the more popular way to do this, you can still use a plastic sheeting, and have it suspended in a horizontal manner, with one side at a lower level than the other.

Put the container below this, catch that runoff, and you can then use this for other applications, such as maybe watering your gardens or converting this to drinkable water.

Containing dust

If you’re working on a home improvement project, you’re probably familiar with the messes these can leave. Luckily, there are ways to prevent this from getting everywhere. You can utilize a sheeting made of plastic so that you can hold the areas apart that need to be improved, or demolished too. It’s also good for tearing down drywall, or also for painting applications too, because this can collect a lot of the runoff so it doesn't get everywhere.

Winterizing your Place

When you’re trying to cover your doors and windows so that the cold air doesn't come in, you can use this type of plastic sheeting to keep the cold air out, and also provide insulation.  It’s pretty easy to use, and it also does naturally absorb this. They also are opaque, so they’ll provide darkness too, and they also work as blackout curtains.

Repair things Temporarily

This also works well for windows or areas that have some damage to them. If hail has pelted and broken your windows, or maybe a storm caused partial damage to the place, using this can cover the top or parts for the home area from the elements. It’s also waterproof too, and won't’ rot, so it makes a good temporary fix until you can repair it. These plastic tarps are helpful, and you can see here why people might use them.
